Higher Education's Commitment to Sustainability: from Understanding to Action

The morning of Day 3 the focus will be on how to move from understanding to action.

Professor Arjen Wals, Director, UNESCO Chair in Social Learning and Sustainable Development, Wageningen University, will open the morning, with the session Plenary Session: Moving from Understanding to Action: Breaking Barriers for Transformation (09.00-10.15), providing an analysis of the barriers and challenges that HE should overcome in order to articulate a sustainable culture. He will be followed by Cristina Escrigas, GUNI Executive Director, who will continue with a brief introduction on the innovative methodology of the Parallel Workshops.

The Parallel Workshops: Moving from Understanding to Action: Breaking Barriers for Transformation (10.30-13.00) will offer a profound analysis of the main barriers of the transformation of Higher education towards sustainability. According to Participants will identify the necessary actions to overcome these barriers and will try to point some possible lines of solution.

Definitive topics to discuss in the workshops will be established through the results of the GUNI Poll on HIGHER Education and Sustainability (link to GUNI Poll).
